Industry Jobs our 3D CAD Designers are working on
The boom days are becoming a distant glimmer of the past now, but with economic activity picking up in sectors like construction, ICT, and the myriad of tech StartUps, we are getting used to seeing articles on large scale building projects and the rise of job creations in the press. But you might be surprised at the wide range of roles and jobs that skills like CAD, 3D work, Google SketchUp and Photoshop rendering need.
For example – could you benefit from 3D printing? ever need to outsource 3D work when working on full-service construction design? Use 3D visuals to convey and convert sales? Need 2D & 3D CAD drawings to support engineering projects or parts?
This blog is to give an insight into the wide range of industry jobs that 2D and 3D CAD work, 3D visualisation, and concept rendering techniques can apply to – and show how our multidisciplinary CAD Design teams are working for our Industry Partners through our Industry Partner Programme. Our CAD designers are equipped with skills in:
- technical drawing by hand,
- draughting in AutoCAD 2D + 3D,
- visualisation in GoogleSketch Up,
- Concept rendering of models in Photoshop,
…so are able to play a key role in industries like;
- interior and product design,
- architecture,
- engineering and construction,
- parts manufacturing,
- film set design, gaming & animation industry
How we work with industry:
We talk to partners about requirements, assign a multidisciplinary team to the project based on candidate strengths and experience, and then project manage the design or draughting work. Essentially we work like an outsourcing studio but with no fees.
2 to 3 month projects for industry
Our designers and technicians work on industry projects for between 7 and 11 weeks full time, either in house with us or on partner sites which are more like traditional internships. Here we ensure the designer’s skills match the requirements and role, and technically support them over the period to ensure they deliver in the commercial role, and minimise support requirements for the clients.
Reason for no fees or charges
Our Industry Partner Programme is about Industry Partners which are exactly that – ‘partners’, and we deliver for them as part of us preparing candidates for exciting roles in industry. As part of that process we build links with industry for our commercial training programmes which are 8 month full time. These focus on delivering results for partners so that they come back again. If partners wish to secure talented candidates for further work or roles, they are more than welcome to.
Here’s a range of the tools and applications we work with in house for industry partners:
- We use GoogleSketch for Film Set Design, Architectural mock ups for client approval, interior fit out design options.
- Photoshop Rendering for combining concepts with environmental imagery
- 3D AutoCAD for product design and 3D Printing work
- 2D & 3D AutoCAD for supply of component and elevations and plans for building work, manufacturing parts
