What’s new in Adobe Illustrator CC & our TOP 4
With all the updates coming on stream for the #Adobe #CreativeCloud products all the time its hard to keep track of them, and hard for us at Big Wave Media Training to describe all the detail we go into with them when publishing information on our Illustrator course pages. SO this post brings you up to date and gives us a chance to shed some light on how exciting it has become to delivering Adobe training courses in the creative cloud.
Maybe you’re on the CreativeCloud and enjoying the way Adobe have really upped the game with the tools, speed to creation, ability to create on multiple devices, and share and collaborate so smartly – all as standard with the Cloud offering.
Maybe you’re an Adobe stalwart and are creating away with earlier versions before the cloud – CS6, CS5 etc etc. THat terminology is certainly starting to seem from another era. But as I know myself, if you;ve been using Adobe products throughout your career – you can probably create most things you need to one way or another with the core tools that have been there forever!
Well there have been over 56 new features or enhancements since Nov 2015!
So it is starting to be more like can you afford NOT to get stuck into the new tools, as opposed to cant afford the time or effort of upgrading !
The full features are listed below – but what are our TOP 4?
Shaper Tool
Shaper Tool all day long – I used to spend 45 mins with clients taking them through combining shapes in cool ways to create the shape you want quickly – working with Pathfinder Palette and Commands. Now….Shaper tool – ONE TOOL – and Intuitive! Drag, draw, cut, combine, punch – away you go. Saves literally hours on laying out graphic design work.

Pen Tool Preview
See the shape you’re about to draw before committing to your next point or path – just what we needed. Great for design in Illustrator, great for teaching Illustrator courses! – actually helps you learn more quickly how the paths and curves work in Ilustrator.

Dynamic Symbols
Dynamic SymbolsSymbols can now share a master shape but be modified to have different appearances such as stroke, fill and opacity. Scale, rotate, mirror and skew them without having to break the link to the parent symbol.

Rebuilt Pencil tool
Draw curves more accurately with options to extend and close paths and draw straight lines. Use presets to create smooth paths with fewer points or more precise renditions of actual strokes. This new technology extends to the Brush, Blob Brush, and Smooth tools.
We havent even mentioned all the stuff you can do on ipads and Android devices – syncing, editing, creating. Or touched on the Perspective Tool, infographic techniques with charts, graphs, on image On art FreeTransform – more powerful zoom and pan, integrated Typekit…..
Here’s a great page on the Adobe Website that list each and every new feature in the Adobe Creative Cloud Illustrator to date – listed chronologically by date !
