Final Cut Studio - Introduction to Color 101
Course Description
This two-day, hands-on Apple Certified FCP Color course is offered in our Apple Authorised Training Centre in Dublin, and will familiarize students with Apple’s masterful new color grading and finishing software. Color is the one the most powerful applications in the Final Cut Studio and one which can turn your current outputs into magical and stunning productions with professional grading and color effects.This course is popular for editors looking to reach the Apple Certified Master Pro Level.
This course runs most frequently in our Apple Authorised Training Centre (AATC) in central Dublin , where each student learns using wide-screen iMacs to maximise the screen display, and is delivered by one of Europe's most experienced editors, Master Trainers, and an Apple's mostexperienced European Mentor Trainer.
Start with the basics of color balancing and correction, and move on to the fine points of secondary grading, including scene matching, using vignettes to isolate and track regions, creating advanced color effects and “looks,” skin tone adjustments, adjusting the composition and framing of a shot, and much more.

Who should do this course?
This course is designed for existing Final Cut Pro users who want to learn more about the color correction and grading capabilities of Color. The course is designed for those who prefer hands-on and interactive instruction to best explore the functionality of Color.
Prerequisites:
Students should have the following prerequisite knowledge prior to attending the course:
- Basic knowledge of the Macintosh OS
- Level One Final Cut Pro End-User certification is preferred. Ideally, students will have attended a Final Cut Pro 101, 200, or 250 course.

- Lesson 1 - Setting Up a Project and Navigating the Color Rooms
- Lesson 2 - Making Basic Adjustments
- Lesson 3 - Creating and Recalling Grades: Advanced Primary Correction
Day 2
- Lesson 4 - Basic Secondary Correction
- Lesson 5 - Using Vignettes: Secondary Correction
- Lesson 6 - Apply Effects and Creating Looks: Color FX Room
Day 3
- Lesson 7 - Recompositing the Shot and Making Final Adjustments
- Lesson 8 - Tracking in the Geometry Room
- Lesson 9 - Rendering, Exporting,Roundtripping and Archiving
Certification
This course covers the requirements necessary to successfully become an Apple Certified Pro, Level One in Color. Level One certification attests to basic operational knowledge of the application. Apple exams are an optional €100 each.
Color Level One certification also counts towards the new Final Cut Studio (FCS) Master Pro certification. FCS Master certification recognizes a Certified Pro’s skills with the entire Final Cut Studio product suite. Since workflow is such a significant component of Final Cut Studio, users need certification in at least three of the applications to earn Master certification.
